OWNER SURRENDER
We understand that situations arise in which it is sometimes impossible for families to keep their beloved pet. If you find yourself needing to re-home your cat or dog CHA may be able to help.
Before considering surrendering your pet please make every effort to find him/her a loving new home on your own. Unless the dog was adopted from CHA originally. Local newspapers will run your ad and posters with a color photo of the pet are often very effective when displayed in public places. Ask around; you may have a friend or family member that would love to care for your pet. Remember if you have adopted the animal through CHA, you MUST contact us prior to rehoming your animals.
When all else fails call the shelter at (715-682-9744) to discuss the possibility of surrendering your pet. Keep in mind that space is very limited and we cannot always take your pet immediately. You may be asked to pay a surrender fee to help offset costs associated with the animals care and medical needs until the animal can be adopted. Keep in mind that we may have to put hundreds of dollars into your animal to get it adoption ready. Addressing medical issues such as dental needs, spaying/neutering, vaccinating etc... we must do in order to make your ready for his/her new home. If your unable to help donated towards these costs please call us to discuss other options.
