Shelter Coordinator 
WAGE/COMPENSATION/BENEFITS: Based on Experience   
HOURS/SCHEDULE/TERM:      25 to 30 hours per week

Position Responsibilities:
  • Maintain  medical records for all animals.
  • Organize records for animals going to/from DBU, and transports.
  • Mail Pickup and drop off.
  • Work with Director to ensure animals/adopter records are entered correctly in Petpoint
  • Maintain list of needed items including pharmaceuticals, animal food and cleaning  supplies.
  • Publicize ads in local newspapers.
  • Kennel worker scheduling.
  • Call time cards into E&P and coordinate with President/Treasurer for signing. 
  • Data Entry of shelter donors and thank you letters.
  • Call references, veterinarians, background checks and landlord contacts on adoption applications, notify director of issues with applications.
  • Notify director of health and behavioral issues of animals.
  • Assist in behavior testing of animals.
  • Behavior modification and enrichment activities for animals.
  • Follow up calls with adoptive families and new volunteers.
  • Run errands with shelter van for animal pickup/drop off.
  • Conduct volunteer orientation trainings.
  • Assist with fundraising activities.
  • May help in researching for grants.
  • May be asked to clean animal areas.
  • Help ensure kennel areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • Notify Director of needed repairs.
  • Attend training classes for animal behavior.
 
Education and Experience:
  • Two-year degree from an accredited business management or veterinary technician program or
  • Two years of experience in business management or in an animal shelter or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Drivers License
