Low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic
If your household makes less than $40,000 yearly and you have a pet/pets that need to be "fixed," we can help. CHA can refer you to one of several low-cost spay/neuter programs in the area. Please call the shelter (715-682-9744) to learn more.
Owner Surrender
We understand that situations arise in which it is sometimes impossible for families to keep their beloved pet. If you find yourself needing to re-home your cat or dog CHA may be able to help. Before considering surrendering your pet please make every effort to find him/her a loving new home on your own. Local newspapers will run your ad and posters with a color photo of the pet are often very effective when hung in public places. Ask around; you may have a friend or family member that would love to care for your pet. When all else fails call Janelle at the shelter (715-682-9744) to discuss the possibility of surrendering your pet. Keep in mind that space is very limited and we cannot always take your pet immediately.
Return to Owner/Lost Pets
Oh, no! Your furry friend just dashed out the door or broke his leash and ran off down the street. What do you do now? First, call your county police dispatch with a report including a detailed description of your pet and exactly where he or she went missing. In Ashland County call 715-682-7025. In Bayfield County call 715-373-6120. These departments will keep your information on record and call you if your pet is picked up. It is also a good idea to check the Ashland/Bayfield County Animal Control petfinder list here as well as our petfinder list here. In the event that you see your pet on one of these lists be sure to call the contact person right away and arrange to bring proof of ownership, such as a picture. Fees will apply to reclaim your pet.
