Can you lend a hand?
Jim Trojanowski, CHA
Board President
Animal lovers often tell
me they want to volunteer for CHA if it were only
possible. The reason they find volunteering difficult
ranges from allergies to the difficulty of making a
regular schedule commitment to concern for developing an
attachment to the pets and not wanting to see them leave
for a new home. The good news is that CHA offers a wide
variety of volunteer opportunities that make it possible
for almost any interested individual to help. Here are a
few:
Shop for the Shelter
The CHA Adoption Center
always needs supplies: from cleaning goods, such as
bleach and paper towels, to toys and treats for cats and
dogs, your donation will be welcome. CHA receives food
from Hill’s and pays only for shipping; in return, we
agree only to feed our pets only Science Diet. We cannot
accept pet food donations other than Science Diet. For a
complete, printable wish list click here.
Collect Aluminum Cans
CHA recycles aluminum
cans. To donate, place cans in the CHA donation bin at
the Old Airport Bar at the corner of Highway 13 and Old
Airport Road south of Ashland. Another way to donate
aluminum is to drop it off at Chicago Iron on 11th
Avenue West in Ashland. Have the cans weighed, take the
ticket to the cashier and say the money should go to
CHA, which receives a monthly check for cans collected
in its name. Please include only aluminum beverage cans,
not food cans or foil.
Cash for Critters
What is Cash for
Critters?
Cash for Critters is a fundraising program — one of the
easiest and fastest ways to raise funds available today!
With this program, your organization collects empty ink
jet cartridges, laser printer cartridges and digital
cell phones. We pay you cash for the cartridges you
collect – up to $4 for ink jets , up to $15 for lasers
and up to $5 for digital cell phone.
