My fiance, Matt, and I adopted Sierra from CHA two months ago and she has already grown to be part of the family. Sierra is the first dog I have ever had, but in the short time she has lived with us, she has convinced me that she will also be the best.

On the day we adopted Sierra, she came home to the farm. I stayed in from the barn that night so she wouldn't be home alone. All she wanted to do was snuggle on the couch and follow me everywhere. She even got along with Dixie and Boots, our two cats. The next few days were a learning experience for Matt, Sierra, and me. We kept Sierra on a leash at all times and didn't bring her into the barn.

When it was time to milk the cows, Matt or I would tie a long leash to a tree so she could be outside, yet still see in the barn so she knew we were not far away. Well....all she did was bark and whine! It didn't take long to discover that all she wanted to do was be close to us. As soon as Matt brought her in the barn, she was happy as can be! By the middle of the week, Sierra no longer needed her leash. She quickly showed us how much she loved coming in the barn, riding in the tractor, exploring the farm, and following us wherever we go!

As days and weeks pass, Sierra continues to open up to us, showing her fun, loving, sweet personality. Her anxiety of being alone has faded and we have figured out how to communicate with one another. She comes in the barn each morning and night. When I am at work during the day, I often text Matt to see how Sierra is doing and what she has been up to. It completely makes my day when his reply is: "She is just running around with the cows in the pasture...." or, "The last time I saw her she was hanging out with Comet (Matt's brother's dog)." The greatest reply of all is: "She was following me around whining, so I put her down for a nap in the house." When I get home from work, we go for a run, play baseball, or get the barn all ready for milking. Matt and I both look forward to snuggling Sierra every night, who is always sprawled out right between us! She has obviously brought so much joy to our lives. It is one of the greatest feelings knowing that we have changed her life. Little does she know, she has changed ours as well. We love her so much!

Thank you Brianna and family for giving Sierra a much deserved second chance. Sierra looks so happy and content and it seems as if she has found her purpose in life.
